From an American collection and from the collection of N. M. McQ. Holmes Collection, former curator of numismatics at the National Museums of Scotland in Edinburgh, Classical Numismatic Group E-Auction 442, 17 April 2019, 749, privately acquired from Baldwin's in 1993 (with collector's ticket).

The large bronzes of Gallienus from Apollonia-Mordiaeum are notably all cast rather than struck. They likely date to his sole reign, a time when the technical and artistic expertise of provincial coin minting was progressively lost amid the chaos of Gothic and Sassanid invasions and civil wars.
